I am officially too old... Sithappointment...

I didn't say all people.. Just the ones that actually see the movie..

Edit: The ones that should delve into it more, should pay more attention (to everything) and actually make it in the view as "this is my life's blood, sweat, tears, and work",such as the directors, producors, actors, and all involved in making the movie, THEN we wouldn't have so many shitty movies.

But if we, as the viewer, wouldn't make it out to be the end of the world if the movie wasn't EVERYTHING we wanted it to be, and didn't have high expectations of everything (Unfortunately it being human nature to do so), we wouldn't be so dissappointed in things.. Some people take a world created by one man's imagination too seriously in this day and age.

I think for many of us (though I think more so the majority) who were there for Star Wars in '77 and The Empire Strikes Back an eon later it can be said that we are the only ones who actually remember and held on to Lucas's original world.

At what point (enter the Ewoks) did Lucas feel it was necessary to take a story and dumb it down with childish antics. From burping alien frogs and Sarlaccs, to the baby-gibbering Gungans and battledroids to swinging Jawas and head-swapping droids the original fans that enabled the franchise to endure have received nothing short of a slap in the face and a "fuck you" from the man at the helm.

Thank you for the insult Lucas. Thank you very much.

I, and a million other people just like me, stood up behind you when Hollywood laughed at your idea and, accept it or not, gave you the financing and the encouragement needed to take that little film of yours and run with it.

It's hard enough to look people in the eye and admit being a die-hard Star Wars fan without knowing deep down inside that for the last several installments we are simply clinging to the tattered fragments of a great tale which began over 30 years ago.

Sithappointed is my new word.

Lastly, I do want to thank you for the initial dream. When I was 9 you showed me the stars in a way I could never have imagined on my own. I truly appreciate it, honestly, even though now I sincerely want to bitch-slap the fucking grey hairs out of your beard for pissing it away...

I just returned from the movie and offer this fresh point of view:

While there has been alot of childish and ham-handed things in the entire series, there hasn't been enough for adults to dislike or downplay the power of the complete story and characters as "just a kiddee movie".

Episode III is the darkest of the six and the occasional blips of humor (regardless of how silly) were not unwelcome. If anything, they allowed us a breather, and a smiling reminder that "oh yeah... we're at a movie... now back to kicking your ass."

There were a few moments where I rolled my eyes and would have liked to kick Lucas in the nuts.... but overall I thought it was a great inclusion to this story that I've enjoyed since childhood.

So many storylines were completed as well as tons of details where people familiar enough with the saga wills say... "ahhhh... that's how that happens."

Big thumbs up and I'll gladly see it again. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I think his transition to the dark side is perfectly woven. He acts brashly and emotionally the way he always does (Hmm... got his hand cut off by Dooku... good move, young one) but doesn't have any idea what kind of mess he's in until he's past the point of no return.

With exception of only a few "Oh George... why did you have to include that?" moments... it's a great movie. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Apparently Obi-Wan is a very cool and collected character of stoic demeanor... unless hacking apart battle droids... at which point jovial banter and a quick-witted tongue is considered Jedi Master protocol...

I will add this. I did not hate the movie and my wife actually enjoyed it thoroughly. I will be seeing it again. I will be buying the Trilogy box set when it comes out.

I see that as a man who has a great sense of humor and personality who,while performing the duties that he has so much respect for, still finds a way to interject that personality.

That personality is one of the things that made Obi Wan such a great Jedi and why he took to the personality of the brash Anakin.

Anakin's lack of being able to balance his personality with his duty becomes his downfall.

Ultimately, it doesn't really matter what any of us say....

... like a glass half empty or half full, you'll either enjoy it or not on your own wants/needs/expectations.

I think it's all subconcious, and about hype


as a plain old movie, Ep. 3's probably damn good, as this big "final Star Wars movie crazy big shit" and whatnot hyped-up movie/franchise that it's become, expectations by anyone/everyone were probably too high, whether they liked it or not
